We decided to explore where different built environment professionals live within Sydney and Regional NSW, starting with Urban Planners. The results are very interesting! Select the image below and take a guess to find out!

On the positive side, when urban planners reside near their projects in Sydney, they can better understand the community's needs and challenges. This close proximity often leads to more thoughtful and effective urban design that resonates with locals. It promotes a hands-on approach, allowing planners to see firsthand how their work impacts the daily lives of residents, making their strategies more relevant and tailored to specific areas.

However, there are also negatives to consider. For instance, urban planners living in affluent Sydney neighbourhoods may develop perspectives that do not fully reflect the needs of less privileged areas or regional communities. This can lead to a divide, where the challenges faced by these different areas are overlooked in planning processes.

Additionally, the high cost of living in Sydney might push some planners to reside further away, which can diminish their connection to the city and its unique needs.

By examining these living patterns, we can encourage a more inclusive approach to urban planning that considers the diverse experiences across NSW. This analysis opens up a vital dialogue about how where we live can influence how we build our communities.
